About Us

Fire Department Profile

The Wild Horse Volunteer Fire Department was established by the Wild Horse Ranch Landowners Association "Board of Directors" in the year 2000.

After a year of probation by the State Fire Marshal's Office, a County Resolution was passed by the Catron County Commission on May 21, 2001 and the Wild Horse Fire District 12 was born.

The Wild Horse Volunteer Fire Department receives its funding from the NM State Fire Funds, that total approximately $79,222.00 each year. This money comes from homeowner and vehicle insurance, paid to the State of NM through insurance companies.

Donations and fund-raisers represent the other source of funding for the department.  We do not receive tax dollars or Wild Horse Ranch Landowners' Assn. dues.

Our current ISO Rating is a 8b.
